detective osiris ost

created for:

game type:

  • interactive fiction, detective/mystery, mythology

requested audio/styles:

  • music soundtrack, Egyptian with a detective noir twist, otherworldly/divine, a hidden world

assets delivered:

  • 8-track ost, music design document, asset list w/implementation instructions

These tracks demonstrate my excitement to learn about music from cultures and historical periods that are otherwise unfamiliar to me in order to compose in a style that is both accurate and respectful. They showcase my ability to combine vastly different styles and genres of music in order to increase player immersion, taking into consideration both the location/historical setting of the game as well as the mood/atmosphere of the overall game genre. They are also great examples of how I utilize motives and motifs to give the player clues about characters and settings, adding context through music to the plot/mystery of the game.

tesoro ost + sfx

created for:

  • masters degree capstone (2022)

game type:

  • rpg, action-adventure, pirates/mythology

requested audio/styles:

  • boss battle track (intro, 90-180 second loop w/3 vertical additive layers, stingers, endtag), cinematic oneshot track (30-90 seconds w/possibility for quick time events), pirate/water-themed sfx and environmental loops

assets delivered:

  • multilayered boss battle loop, cinematic oneshot w/QTE, bundle of sfx & environmental loops, music design document & asset list (w/implementation instructions)

As with the examples above, the first two tracks demonstrate my range of accurate and realistic composition styles (in this case taking the player back in time to the golden age of piracy). More importantly, they demonstrate my ability to compose adaptive, non-linear music. The first track is an example arrangement of the requested multilayered boss battle loop, showcasing how the overall track could sound by starting with the intro, playing through the loop three times (adding an additional layer each time), and ending with the endtag. The second track is an example arrangement of the requested cinematic oneshot, which includes a small snippet of a potential quick time event in the guitar part.

Included in the additional tracks are samples from the sound effects bundle (in this case for a snoring sea monster), as well as water-inspired environmental loops.
